At last week’s commencement, NYITCOM recognized five recipients of the Riland Medal for Public Service. Today, Dr. Shane Speights presented Mayor Harold Perrin with the medal honoring the City of Jonesboro for their efforts to help bring NYITCOM at A-State to Northeast Arkansas and continued support as NYITCOM works to impact healthcare in our state and region.
The Riland Medal is named after W. Kenneth Riland, D.O., founding trustee of NYITCOM in New York. It is given to individuals, organizations and institutions in recognition of significant contributions to medical education. Joining the City of Jonesboro in receiving the Riland Medal this year were the Arkansas State University, NEA Baptist Health System, St. Bernards Healthcare and Dr. Barbara Ross-Lee, the founding dean of NYITCOM at A-State.
