[ARCHIVED] City Business Offices Closed Thursday, February 18

City of Jonesboro business offices will be closed Thursday as the extreme weather continues. Those who have the ability to work from home will do so.

JET bus and sanitation services will not be available Thursday. The continuing unsafe conditions forced Mayor Harold Copenhaver to send non-essential staff home at noon Wednesday.

Weather permitting, the City plans to resume garbage pickup Friday with normal Friday routes. Regular Thursday routes will be run on Saturday.

This decision was made because Thursday routes are in hilly neighborhoods, and the hope is that the roads will be easier to navigate by Saturday.

Please ensure garbage containers are upright and spaced, and please continue to be patient as sanitation drivers occasionally have to get out of their trucks to secure frozen equipment and icy conditions.

Regular schedules will resume Monday — again dependent on anticipated improved weather.

Copenhaver thanks Legacy Landfill staff and leadership for working with the City to ensure trash can be picked up and dropped off as soon as possible.
