The Salvation Army in Jonesboro is opening its doors to people seeking shelter from the dangerously cold weather. The warming center is extending its 24-hour operation through Friday, February 19, 2021 for anyone who does not have adequate shelter or heat in their home. During this time if anyone who knows of someone needing this service, please direct them to The Salvation Army at 800 Cate Ave, no one will be turned away.
The Salvation Army is working hard to accommodate those in the most need such as the homeless or those who may not have adequate heating, if any at all. At risk are infants and older people, although people of any age or fitness level sometimes develop hypothermia symptoms.
Because of the treat of COVID-19, everyone entering The Salvation Army will be required to wear a mask. Masks and hand sanitizer will be provided. To combat the spread of COVID-19, no food or clothing donations will be accepted. However, the following items are needed:
- Bottle Water
- Pre-packaged, individually wrapped snacks (Soups, hot Dogs, buns, luncheon meats, Bread etc..)
- Blankets
- Toilet Paper
- Paper Towels
- Travel-size hygiene products
- Toboggins, Socks, Skull Caps and Gloves
- Towels, wash cloths
- Tents, sleeping bags, coats, Thermal underwear for those choosing not to stay in the shelter
