Mayor Copenhaver met Wednesday with representatives of St. Bernards Project SEARCH. Project SEARCH provides nine-month internships with young adults who have disabilities, helping them find jobs in the community. With the mayor are St. Bernards Vice President of Human Resources Lori Smith and St. Bernards Project SEARCH Coordinator Mary Housewright, as well as intern Jerry Smith. Mayor Copenhaver wants to shine a light on Project SEARCH, so businesses can hire interns and interns with disabilities can find the great jobs they deserve. Businesses can create opportunities for interns by contacting Housewright at Mary.Housewright@AccessGroupInc.org. She said the group is always looking for new applicants, as well, and the only requirements are that the candidate has a diagnosis, a high school diploma, and a counselor with the group’s partner, Arkansas Rehabilitation Services.
