As COVID-19 cases continue a sharp rise in Jonesboro, many City staff members will continue to work remotely and no in-person participation in City meetings will be permitted. That includes the Tuesday, Dec. 15, City Council and committee meetings.
Mayor Harold Perrin extended his decision following Thanksgiving to close City offices and make Council meetings virtual for two weeks. On Thursday, he extended that another week, until Dec. 18.
“I would prefer that we all worked in the office, and I certainly wish City Council meetings were safe for in-person attendance,” Perrin said. “But my priority is keeping people as safe as possible while getting the work of the City done. This pandemic is teaching us lessons we have never faced before.”
All City meetings continue to be broadcast on FacebookLive and Suddenlink Channel 24, or by going online to Jonesboro.Legistar.com and choosing the appropriate meeting to watch live or recorded video and view agendas.
Residents and interested parties can participate either by sending email to CouncilComments@jonesboro.org or calling 870-336-7248 when agenda items are being discussed.
