Last night at the City Council meeting, Andrea Williams (Paragould City Clerk and immediate past President of the Arkansas City Clerks, Recorders, and Treasurers Association, an organization under the umbrella of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks) presented Jonesboro Deputy City Clerk April Leggett with her Certified Municipal Clerk and Certified Arkansas Municipal Clerk certifications. To become a Certified Municipal Clerk, one must complete 120 hours of education through the University of Arkansas Municipal Clerks Institute and have community service experience. And as a Certified Arkansas Municipal Clerk, complete 100 hours of education along with community service hours as well. Leggett now becomes one of about 30 clerks in the state who holds these designations.
