Citizen Police Academy Applications

The Jonesboro Police Department will host its 10 Citizen Police Academy beginning March 14, 2019. The Academy is a 12 week program that meets 6-9 p.m. Thursdays.

The mission of the Citizen Police Academy is to give the public a working knowledge of the JPD. It provides education into the jobs of officers and departmental operations, encourages a partnership with the community that can enable community-led problem solving and an environment for positive police and community interaction.

This is not a police-officer training course, but aims to educate citizens about policies, procedures and laws that govern police actions. JPD also benefits from the input of participants, making us more accountable to the public.

Applicants must: 

  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Live or work in Craighead County
  • Have no felony arrests
  • Have no serious misdemeanor arrests in the last two years
  • Attend 75% of classes during the session
