Metropolitan Planning Organization

Dr. Marsha Guffey Ph.D is the Transportation Study Director for the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the Jonesboro region.  The area served by the MPO includes Jonesboro, Brookland, Bay, Bono and a portion of Craighead County.  The MPO coordinates transportation planning and funding on a regional level and is responsible for planning and developing a safe, efficient, and affordable transportation system for the region.  The following are the major work activities:

• Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) for the transportation investments in the MPO area for the next 20 years.
• Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) containing projects listed for improvement in the next four years.
• Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) lists the transportation planning activities and studies planned by the MPO or member agencies for the next year.
• Public Participation Plan showing the procedures and methods to keep the citizens involved in transportation planning process.

Next Meeting

The July meeting of the Technical Advisory Committee has been moved from July 2, 2013, to July 9, 2013. The meeting will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the first floor conference room of the Jonesboro Municipal Center, 300 South Church Street.
