The Department of Community Development team is dedicated to the fulfillment of the "true intention" of the HUD (U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development) Community Development Block Grant. The national priority of this grant is to help provide the opportunities necessary to allow our low and moderate income citizens to live in a suitable, decent living environment with the ability to provide for themselves and their families.
The responsibilities of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) include: all aspects of planning, the coordination of all program activities, their delegation, implementation, reporting, and administration.

The City of Jonesboro's Community Development Block Grant:
The U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development awards an average of $540,000 per year to the City of Jonesboro's CDBG program to provide financial assistance for our very low, low, and moderate income areas and residents. Eligible activities include administrative, rehabilitation, clearance activities, public services, parks, sewer, streets, drainage, economic development, planning, acquisition, disposition, relocation, and their implementation.

Intention of program: To remedy emergency health & safety issues for low-income homeowners. The City of Jonesboro Department of Community Development will provide Homeowner Emergency Rehabilitation services to qualifying citizens of Jonesboro for emergency repairs that directly address immediate health and safety issues.
Qualifications:
The home must be economically feasible to rehabilitate.
Note: This is a 5 year forgiveable grant. 20% forgiven annually until the 5 year term has been met. A lien, guaranteeing future repayment of the assistance provided will be recorded against your property until said date.

Intention of program: Expand homeownership opportunities to our low income citizens

NEIGHBORHOOD REVITALIZATION |
Intention of program: To assist the low income homeowner whose property is facing condemnation and/or poses a health or safety risk. This program provides the funds for the demolition of the structure while allowing the owner to maintain ownership of the property without the standard condemnation lien.
Qualifications:
Total cost must not exceed current standard (call of for details)
